BEAVERTON – Detectives arrested two suspects Friday who allegedly ran a scheme selling more than $1 million worth of stolen property on eBay during the past four years, police said.
Police were tipped off when a guitar valued at $2,750 that was stolen from the Guitar Center in Beaverton showed up for sale on the Internet. An employee discovered the missing guitar online and told police.
Authorities discovered the suspects through their eBay accounts, which had allegedly been used to sell stolen property since 2008, said Mike Rowe of the Beaverton Police Department.
Detectives started their investigation in May and determined that four subjects were involved in the theft and sale of high-end guitars, cameras, computers and recreation accessories, Rowe said.
Police obtained search warrants and located stolen property at 9127 SE Knapp Street in Portland and 16863 NE Glisan Street in Gresham.
Officers arrested 32-year-old Daniel Dan of Portland (pictured left) and 30-year-old Ramuiel “Ryan” Talpas of Gresham (pictured right). Police have not named the other suspects in this case.
