PORTLAND -- A dry spell was expected to continue through Saturday and end around noon Sunday, according to KGW Meteorologist Jim Donovan.
"Traces of rain came through early this morning," Donovan said. But he added the rest of the day would dry up.
"Partly to mostly cloudy skies with mid and high level clouds clearing at times," he added. "Metro temperatures will warm into the mid-50s."
He said drivers headed over the Cascade passes should have an easy time getting to just-opened ski resorts.

The bad news is that Sunday will be wet.
"A cold front will bring a solid band of rain as the noon hour approaches," Donovan said. "Metro rain totals between .20" and .45" are expected."
