SALEM -- A Portland man was found murdered inside a running car on a Salem road, police said.
Deputies were called just after 1 a.m. to a report of a disabled car in the 4400 block of Cordon Road, according to Sgt. Don Thomson of the Marion County Sheriff's Office. The caller thought the driver was stranded and needed assistance.
A deputy responding to the scene found the car on the shoulder, still running, with its hazard lights on. The deputy then noticed a man slumped over in the driver’s seat, Thomson said. He then determined the man was dead.
The medical examiner's office announced Friday night the man was a victim of homicidal violence. He was identified as 25-year-old Rogelio Hernandez-Davalos and investigators believe he lived in Portland.
Anyone with information was asked to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at (503) 540.8007.
Cordon Road was blocked in both directions for several hours. The Marion County District Attorney's Office was assisting homicide detectives with the investigation.
