PORTLAND – A bicyclist was hit by a tow truck that left the scene in Southeast Portland Wednesday, according to police.
The victim, a teenager, suffered traumatic injuries and was rushed to a Portland hospital for treatment. Police said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
"I'm glad he's okay," said fellow cyclist Tracy Puhl.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m. near the intersection of Southeast 7th Avenue and Southeast Taylor Street. Witnesses said the flat-bed tow truck took off westbound on Taylor Street after hitting the bicyclist.
"I think we seriously need a yellow flashing light here," said neighbor Theresa Bowers.
The tow truck and its driver were found hours later but as of 3:45 p.m., police said no arrests have been made.
Anyone with information that may help investigators was urged to call the police non-emergency line at (503) 823-3333.
