PORTLAND, Ore. -- A bicyclist who ran into a bus in downtown Portland earlier this month was cited for a traffic violation.

It happened at the transit mall on SW 6th and Morrison on August 12, as first reported by Jonathan Maus' BikePortland blog.

Richard Miller Krebs, 36, of Northeast Portland was hospitalized and reported to be in fair condition.

Portland Police Bureau spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson said investigators interviewed witnesses and took measurements and initially said there was "no major fault one way or another" at the time.

Krebs was later cited for failing to obey a traffic device, according to TriMet officials.

The bus was providing special alternate service in the area due to MAX and route closures and delays in service.
