PORTLAND -- Crews were called to a fire affecting several units at a Southeast Portland apartment building Tuesday morning.
When firefighters arrived to the five-unit building at 2066 SE Madison Street around 7 a.m., they found a large fire on the third story and attic space, said Lt. Rich Chatman of Portland Fire & Rescue.
Crews contained the fire but a deck behind the building burned. All of the building's residents and pets were able to make it out safely, Chatman said.
Fire investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire.
