CHEMULT, Ore. (AP) -- State police say both drivers were killed when their vehicles collided on Highway 97 near Chemult, Ore.
Lt. Gregg Hastings says a pickup driven by 44-year-old Kenneth Frazier of Gilchrist attempted to pass a commercial vehicle in a no-passing zone when it collided with an oncoming van driven by 73-year-old Earl Johnson of Lake Havasu, Ariz.
Both men died at the scene Friday. Johnson's passenger, 71-year-old Joanne Johnson, suffered critical injuries and was taken by air to a Bend hospital.
Hastings says investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
