PORTLAND - A fiery crash critically injured one person and closed all northbound lanes of McLoughlin Boulevard/99E north of Tacoma Street throughout the Thursday morning commute.

Crews responding to the three-vehicle crash just after 5 a.m. found one of the vehicles on fire, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson. The fire was extinguished and the driver was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Two southbound lanes were closed for about an hour. The northbound lanes were closed until about 10 a.m., Simpson said.

TriMet bus lines 19, 29, 31,32, 33, 70, 79, 99 and 152 all had major delays while the crash scene was cleared.

Northbound commuters had to exit at Tacoma and go west to Milwaukie Avenue to detour.
