PORTLAND -- Commuters find challenges in almost every direction while driving in the Portland metropolitan area.
Many have found help through a statewide campaign for commuters that helps them cut down on their driving.
Drive Less Save More connects commuters with interactive tools. Drivers can find the right bus, train or bike route, or find a good fit for a carpool or rideshare.
“There are a lot of great tools that can help you tap into transportation options in the area,” said spokeswoman Kelly Bantle.
The site also offers a Drive Less Pledge, where you can decide what small things you will do to make a difference.
Bantle said it doesn’t take much.
“You don’t have to do one thing like take the bus every day; you can take the bus on Tuesdays and Thursdays and over the years save a lot of money," she said. "Plus, you may be stuck in traffic, but you can get that book read that you never seem to have time for.”
