PORTLAND – A Portland man was arrested by the FBI Tuesday for child sex trafficking.
Agents from the Child Exploitation Task Force arrested 24-year-old Diallo Gaston Tuesday on a federal warrant.
He was jailed on a charge of sex trafficking of a child.
According to federal court documents, Gaston met a 16-year-old girl through on online source and called her, eventually recruiting her for prostitution in the Portland area.
The girl, who was listed as a runaway, engaged in prostitution several customers, bringing in hundreds of dollars, which she turned over to Gaston, documents showed.
The girl was arrested in Salem in January. Investigators said the girl informed Gaston she was not coming back, and he sent her threatening text messages, including threatening to tell her mother what she was engaged in prostitution.
Gaston was arrested at a Motel 6 near the Portland Convention Center on Tuesday with an adult prostitute.
He admitted to police and the FBI that that he helped that adult post an ad online the night before.
