PORTLAND – A downtown Portland park has been fenced off by the city, so workers can clean it up.
Homeless campers had been living in Chapman Square until recently.
Workers with the Department of Parks and Recreation had been trying to do maintenance work at the park but said they were regularly harassed by the campers.
The city said that’s why the decision was made the fence off the park, so the workers could get their job done.
They chain-link fenced will be removed after the work has been completed. The city has not released a timeline.
Chapman Square is located at Southwest 4th Avenue and Main Street in downtown Portland. It's an historic site with paved walkways, benches and public art.
