MONROE, Ore. -- A Benton County woman was hit by two bullets while people were target shooting on a nearby property Sunday, police said.

Deputies were called just after 5:30 p.m. to the report of a woman with gunshot wounds in the 27000 block of Reese Creek Road, northwest of Monroe, said Capt. Greg Ridler of the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

At the scene, deputies learned 60-year-old Gale Fogelstrom was picking up her mail when she was shot.

"Ms. Fogelstrom told deputies that she heard about 40 rounds of ammunition being fired, which is fairly common for the area," Ridler said. "She was walking north, back towards her residence when she was struck by two bullets."

A passerby picked her up and drove her back home, where her boyfriend called 911. She was taken by helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was listed in good condition Monday.

Investigators said 47-year-old Jeffery Field and 37-year-old Lena Potter were target shooting into a heavily wooded area about 100 yards away.

No arrests were made. The investigation was ongoing.
