PORTLAND – A five-month-long bridge project starts Monday, causing lane closures and detours on 99W.
The bridge work will take place on Southwest Barbur Boulevard south of Capitol Highway. It will involve repairing both the Newbury Street and Vermont Street bridges, according to Don Hamilton of the Oregon Department of Transportation.
For the next five months, single lanes will be closed 24 hours a day. Two full weekend closures of southbound lanes will happen June 13-15 and June 27-29.
During that time, Southbound traffic on Barbur Boulevard will be detoured onto Capitol Highway.
Drivers should expect delays while the 80-year-old bridges are repaired.
