PORTLAND – Someone stole a Flemish Giant rabbit from her hutch outside a Southeast Portland home Thursday, police said.

The 19-pound white rabbit named “Bonnie” was taken from a home in the 2200 block of Southeast Woodward Street between 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.

The person whose rabbit was stolen told police that a few weeks before the theft, a woman claiming to be a “rabbit advocate” came to the door and offered her information of how to care for it, Simpson said.

Police don’t know if that incident is connected to the theft.

If someone finds “Bonnie,” the Oregon Humane Society agreed to accept the rabbit with no questions asked.

Anyone with information can submit it by email to CrimeTips@PortlandOregon.gov.
