FAIRVIEW, Ore. -- The body of a woman was found at the entrance to Blue Lake Park Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers responding to a welfare check in the 21200 block of Northeast Blue Lake Road just after 7 a.m. and found the woman, according to Sgt. Bernie Meyer of the Fairview Police Department.
"Citizens driving by noticed her and called the police," Meyer said. "They came out as a welfare check that they saw this person lying on the side of the road."
The park was closed while the crime team was investigating.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Tiffany Jenks. Her death was ruled a homicide.
The incident has shaken residents of the quiet upscale neighborhood.
"When you've got something like a body-- that's worrisome," said resident Pam Trask. "I guess it always worries you when you've got something going on in a neighborhood that you think is nice and safe."
Police spent part of the morning going door-to-door asking neighbors what they knew.
An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, according to the Multnomah County Medical Examiners Office.
