SALEM – On Friday, police identified the Salem woman's body found in a Yamhill County landfill Thursday.
Authorities say the body of 55-year-old Solveg Birgitte Pedersen Cox was transported in a garbage truck to the landfill.
At around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Cox's body was discovered at the Riverbend Landfill west of McMinnville, according to Yamhill County Sheriff’s deputies.
Capt. Tim Svenson of the Yamhill County sheriff's office said the worker saw what he thought was a mannequin roll off the blade of a machine spreading waste at the landfill, but when he looked closer, he saw it was a corpse.
The truck that brought the woman to the landfill was traced back to West Salem.
Salem detectives identified the Cox through fingerprints, according to the McMinnville News-Register.
The investigation was ongoing.
