VANCOUVER -- The body of a woman found in the Columbia River on Thursday may be that of a Vancouver woman who went missing in March.

On Thursday, the body of a woman was found in the water near the boat launch at Beacon Rock State Park, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

The woman has been tentatively identified as Daphne Alexander-Christ, 44, from Vancouver, said
Sgt. Kevin Allais of the major crimes unit.

Alexander-Christ went missing near Beacon Rock State Park over the weekend of March 3. Family members, friends and deputies searched for many hours until the effort was called off the following Monday.

Her black Suzuki station wagon was found parked at Beacon Rock State Park Sunday and the search was narrowed to that area, according to Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox.

Christ works as a teaching assistant at Lake Shore Elementary, in the Vancouver School District.
