SEATTLE -- The Washington State Patrol ticketed a driver in Federal Way Wednesday morning for illegally driving in the HOV lane after a doll was found in the passenger seat.
The trooper was specifically working HOV enforcement on northbound Interstate 5 this morning near the 320th Street exit.
Around 8:30 a.m., the trooper noticed a car pull quickly out of the HOV lane. Upon closer inspection, WSP said it was obvious the passenger in the car was a doll.
The trooper pulled the vehicle over and found the inflatable doll was wearing a seatbelt, and had a blanket over it, presumably to fool others into thinking the passenger was sleeping.
Offering only an apology, WSP said the driver was handed a $124 ticket for the violation.
