SALEM -- A man riding his bicycle in Salem was injured in a drive-by shooting early Wednesday morning, police said.

Christopher Martinez said he was riding in the 400 block of Silverton Road Northeast at about 3 a.m. when somebody in a dark blue sedan started shooting at him, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

He was shot in his right knee, taken to the Salem Hospital for treatment and released.

Investigators said two men on bicycles stopped to help the victim, but did not talk with police.

Sheriff's deputies have asked those two bicyclists, or anyone else who witnessed the shooting, to call Det. Christopher Bangs at 503-932-3244.
