PORTLAND – The Benson Bridge at Multnomah Falls has reopened after major damage from a falling boulder earlier this year was repaired.

The bridge had been closed since January 9, when the boulder fell from the surrounding cliffs, striking the walkway and railings.

“I encourage visitors to come and see the newly restored bridge at Multnomah Falls,” said Lynn Burditt, spokeswoman for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Forest Service.

The Wahkeena to Multnomah Falls is now passable, as is the hike to the top of the falls, Burditt said.
