BEAVERTON, Ore. – Some homeowners in the West Slope area of Beaverton have become increasingly upset over a growing number of adult entertainment businesses opening in their community.
One business in particular had many people angry – a lingerie shop called Pussycats, which moved within a block of homes after a fire destroyed it previous store location.

Hundreds of community members met Monday night to plead with the police department and their elected officials over putting some restrictions on where the adult entertainment businesses can be located.
"We can't go and target a strip club just because we don't like a strip club because, unless there are crimes, unless there are violations of law, they can turn around and sue the city or county for harassment,” a police officer at the meeting explained.
Businesses like Pussycats and strip clubs are permitted to operate under protection from the state. They are regulated by local codes and as long as those rules are not broken, community members have little power over forcing them to close.
