BEAVERTON -- More car crashes are being blamed on distracted driving so the Beaverton Police Department has started a unique program to put a stop to it.

Starting Friday, anyone pulled over in the Beaverton area for distracted driving will be offered a chance at a diversion program.

You pay an $85 diversion fee and take a class. Once it's completed, your case is dismissed and the citation is wiped off your record.

Although using a cell phone is the most common, officers want you to know there are other forms of distracted driving such as eating and drinking, talking to passengers, and even changing the radio station.
