BEAVERTON, Ore. -- An Arizona teen who disappeared from Beaverton early Monday morning has been found in San Jose, Calif.
Sheyenne Marie Garnett, 13, was visiting a family friend in Beaverton when she sent a text to her father in Arizona Monday saying, "Please don't tell anybody, I am running away," said police spokesman Mike Rowe.
She had been communicating with a boy on social media who lived in San Jose, Rowe said after she had been found. The boy's father was contacted by police and Sheyenne was taken into protective custody late Monday night.
Garnett had no money, did not know the Beaverton area well, did not use public transportation and had conditions which required medications, Rowe said earlier.
She may have boarded a Greyhound bus as part of the escapade, he said.
