BEAVERTON -- A missing 12-year-old girl with autism who was reported missing Sunday night in Beaverton apparently rode a MAX train to Gresham, from where she phoned her parents early Monday morning.

Hailey Nory-Wilson left her family's room at the Extended Stay Hotel on SW 158th Avenue sometime before 8:15 p.m. before being found safe in Gresham.

Her stepfather Kent Wilson said she apparently rode the MAX there, having never stepped on the train before. She called her parents about 3:45 a.m. from a phone near Gresham Central MAX station

"It's like having the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders," Wilson said after spending hours worrying about the scenario of a stranger abduction. He thanked all involved with her search.

Beaverton police searched the area near the hotel on the ground and later called in an aircraft to aid in the search effort.
