RIDGEFIELD, Wash. – A 9-month-old boy nearly drowned Sunday afternoon after falling from the dock of a floating home in Ridgefield, Wash.
The boy fell off the dock at a home at McCuddy’s Marina just before 4 p.m., his family said.
The family went inside briefly and when they came out, they saw the boy’s feet sticking out of the water.
His grandfather's girlfriend, Rebecca Maddy, pulled the child from the water.
“I don’t know how he got there,” Maddy said. “He was blue -- scared me half to death.”
Maddy, a registered nurse, turned the child on his side and gave him mouth-to-mouth.
The baby was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. He was crying, which was a promising sign that he’d likely be alright.
