ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) -- The Astoria City Council said thanks, but no thanks to the gift an old pilot boat.

The Columbia River Maritime Museum asked the city to accept the boat from Foss Maritime because it can't afford to restore, preserve and display the vessel right now. But the council refused the offer.

Councilmen Russ Warr and Peter Roscoe said the city can't afford the maintenance costs.

The Daily Astorian reports that an attendee at this week's council meeting suggested that the boat be used give tourists a tour of the harbor.
