LYONS, Ore. – A 75-year-old man was tied up, assaulted and robbed at his home in Lyons early Thursday morning, deputies said.
Around 1:30 a.m., Wanda Foster, 67, called 911 and said she had been tied up and robbed by three suspects, including her son, at her home at 47065 Lyons Mill City Drive.
When deputies arrived, they found 75-year-old John Bach, who rents a room to Foster, unconscious in a bedroom and bound in a way where he could not breathe, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Bach was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Deputies said Foster allowed the three assailants into the home where they assaulted Bach. One of them brandished a gun but fired no shots.
KGW spoke with Bach Sunday morning. He said he is not doing well. He has stitches in his face, but he still thinks he's lucky to be alive.
Bach said the assailants beat him and ransacked his house. They told him he was going to die, and when they heard he had a pace maker, they started beating on his chest.
After Bach was bound and assaulted, the suspects stole his wallet and other items in the home before fleeing in his Dodge pickup.
The pickup was then reportedly involved in a hit-and-run crash in downtown Salem that sent another driver to the hospital. The pickup was abandoned at the scene, deputies said.
On Thursday around 5:30 p.m., two of the suspects turned themselves in at the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and were booked in the Linn County Jail.

He is 6-foot-2, about 220 lbs. with red hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to call 541-967-3950.
Bach said Wanda Foster was on a trial rent period in his house and had not paid a full month's rent and was going to leave before the end of the month.
