ALOHA, Ore. -- A Washington County sheriff's spokesman says deputies have arrested a man they say may be responsible for a flurry of daytime residential burglaries in Aloha, Oregon, west of Portland.
Sgt. Bob Ray said late Friday that since June 6, deputies have responded to eight similar burglaries.
The intruder forced open front doors and was believed to be traveling by bike. Ray says several victims were able to provide a description.
As deputies investigated a fresh burglary Friday, another officer spotted and stopped a man on a bike who matched the description of the busy intruder.
Deputies soon learned of another burglarized home nearby. Ray says the man on the bike was in possession of property from that home.
The spokesman says 41-year-old Joseph Dwight Daniel was arrested for investigation of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Ray says deputies believe Daniel arrived from Minnesota at about the time the burglaries began.
