CORNELIUS, Ore. – A man came home to find an armed intruder in his Cornelius home Friday morning, deputies said.
The suspect pulled a handgun on the man and ran from the home carrying a rifle case.
Originally, deputies thought the suspect may be hiding in a home nearby in the 500 block of South Ivy Circle, according to Sgt. Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
After an initial search of the home, deputies did not find a suspect. A second more in-depth search of the home turned up no suspect.
Deputies have closed off the street and are searching for the suspect.
Four schools in the Forest Grove School District were temporarily placed on "lockout" status because of police activity in the area. The lockout was lifted a short time later.
