BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A gunman robbed the Beaverton Shilo Inn motel about 4 a.m. Monday.
The man entered the motel lobby at 9900 SW Canyon Road in a ski mask, gloves and a gray hoodie, said Sgt. Bob Ray of the Washington County sheriff's office.
The suspect pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the clerk, then tied him up.
"It’s kind of disturbing that someone would be that brazen to go into the lobby of a hotel, that’s open, during business hours," Ray said. "Someone could have come down from their room or come in from the front door and interrupted it very easily."
The robber left with an undisclosed amount of cash. A search that included a K-9 dog yielded no results. The suspect was of average height and had a slender build.
The clerk was not hurt. He was able to call 911, but arriving deputies had to cut him free, Ray said.
