PORTLAND – Spain’s ‘Running of the Bulls,’ an annual tradition where people run in front of a group of stampeding bulls, has inspired an American version of the event.
‘The Great Bull Run’ will mimic the Spanish event in cities across America, including San Francisco, Philadelphia and Atlanta. The event advertises an “epic run with 1,000-pound bulls.”
While it may sound dangerous, organizers say they are adding additional safety features including off-ramps.
Each event will also include a ‘Tomato Royale,’ similar to the ‘La Tomatina’ tomato-throwing food fight held in Bunol, Spain.
Organizers say more than 5,000 people have already registered for the events, which are scheduled for 2014.
