ALOHA, Ore – A teacher pleaded not guilty to sex abuse charges Friday and the Beaverton School District confirmed he will no longer teach at Aloha High School.

Eric Willard Wise, 37, was jailed earlier this month on charges of second-degree sex abuse and providing liquor to a minor, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The 17-year-old victim was a student of Wise’s for several years, detectives said. She was not his student when the abuse allegedly occurred.

Wise was placed on paid administrative leave when the allegations surfaced, but recently resigned from his position, according to district spokeswoman Maureen Wheeler.

His next court appearance was scheduled for March 3.
