ALOHA, Ore. -- An Aloha High School teacher was arrested Tuesday on allegations he sexually abused a 17-year-old girl, police said.
Eric Willard Wise, 37, was jailed on charges of second-degree sex abuse and providing liquor to a minor after turning himself in, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Wise is a marketing and business teacher at Aloha High School and was the victim’s teacher for several years, detectives said. She was not his student when the abuse allegedly occurred.
Many Aloha students were shocked by the allegations.
“He’s such an amazing teacher and he’s done so much for me in the past three years," said Aloha senior Miranda Leonard, holding back tears. "I can’t even imagine that this would be true.”
The district immediately placed Wise on administrative leave after it was informed of the investigation. He has been employed by the Beaverton School District since 2006.
Detectives said they are concerned there could be more victims and would like to speak with anyone who might have additional information for this case. Anyone with tips should contact detective Robert Rookhuyzen at 503-846-2673.
Wise is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 31 at 8:30 a.m.
