Air quality at hazardous levels in the gorge

PORTLAND -- Air quality rates in the Columbia River Gorge were at a hazardous level due to wildfires according to Hood River County Public Health officials.

The Health Department recommended that people avoid outdoor activities particularly people suffering from asthma or respiratory problems.

Friday was Homecoming for Hood River High School and kids endured dense smoke as they gathered in a park for a rally after school.

Continued high pressure and calm winds are forecast for the area, and officials expect no immediate changes in air quality.
