BORING, Ore. -- Six people were hurt after a sudden hail storm led to a three-vehicle crash on Highway 26 in Boring Wednesday night, police said.

Just before 3 p.m. dense hail had fallen and covered the highway when a westbound driver lost control of his Toyota 4Runner and slid across the median, crashing into an eastbound SUV, according to Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.

The SUV then spun around and crashed head-on into a sedan, before going off the road and rolling onto its side in the grass.

The driver of the 4Runner suffered minor injuries and his 7-month-old son was taken for evaluation at a nearby hospital for evaluation. He told police he only lost control after another vehicle struck his. Any witnesses were asked to call police at (503) 731-3020, ext. 416.

The driver of the sedan was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with possibly serious injuries, Hastings said. One occupant of the other SUV suffered serious injuries. The other three occupants were hurt, but not hospitalized, Hastings said.
