SOUTH BEACH, Ore. -- Three people were arrested on drug and weapon charges after police found them sleeping in a running vehicle Thursday in South Beach, Oregon.

Just after 8 a.m. Thursday deputies received a report that four people were sleeping in a running vehicle in the 4300 block of South Coast Highway, according to Sgt. Adam Shanks with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. The car was partially blocking a business entrance.

Responding deputies saw a marijuana pipe and a loaded handgun inside the vehicle and removed the occupants, Shanks said. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up heroin and methamphetamine, along with packaging materials.

Deputies found out two of the passengers, 31-year-old James Wayne Blaska,and 20-year-old Jessica Ila Weatherly, both of Springfield, were wanted for felony warrants in Lane County. They also discovered the handgun had been reported stolen.

The driver of the vehicle, 34-year-old Thomas Michael Haynes, of Springfield, was arrested on drug charges. Weatherly was arrested for drug and theft charges. Blaska was arrested for drug, theft and weapons charges.

They were each also charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. The fourth passenger, a 17-year-old female, was released at the scene without criminal charges.
