VANCOUVER – Police have located the mother of a 3-year-old boy found running down the middle of a street all alone in Vancouver Thursday.
A Good Samaritan found the boy and took him to Washington Elementary School as police worked to try and find his parents. More than three hours later, police said the boy's mother called 911. She told police she didn't realize the boy was missing at first.
"Dispatch received a call from a mother who discovered her child was missing from the home and matched the description of the toddler that was located earlier. The Vancouver Police Department is in contact with the parent and Child Protective Services will also meet with the parent regarding this incident," said Kim Kapp with the Vancouver Police Department.
The boy was wearing clothes but no shoes or socks. He was in good condition, police said. The boy was found in the 2900 block of S Street.
They have not said how the child became separated from his mother.
