VANCOUVER -- A husband and wife died and their son was expected to survive after a shooting early Monday inside a home in the 13000 block of Northeast 52nd Street and 131st Avenue, according to police.

Neighbor Sayge Sword said she heard gunfire about 5:15 a.m. and  "I heard yelling and screaming from a guy across our backyard and he was saying 'How could you do this? How could you? He's bleeding everywhere!' and I heard a gunshot."

Police responded and found Danny Lee Luster, and his wife Sandra Luster, both 49 dead in the home. The family dog was also dead, police said.

One of the couple's adult sons, 23, was found in the house with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to Peace Health Hospital and was in stable condition Monday evening, according to police.

Police said the shooting involved domestic violence and that there was no threat to the general public.

Sword said she had heard people fighting at the home before, but never gunshots.

James Hamburger, who described himself as a friend of the family, said the couple lived in the home and they had two grown sons.

He said his neighbor had recently lost his job and was under a lot of stress.

"He was always good to me but he was having a lot of problems here in the last year," Hamburger said.
