CANBY, Ore -- A regular customer at a Canby bar won $28,000 from an Oregon Lottery ticket and gave $10,000 of it to the waitress who sold it to him.
It was the first time Tom Larsen had ever played the Lucky Lines game, Oregon Lottery spokesman Chuck Baumann said.
When a friend mentioned the game over a cup of coffee at Mike's Place, Larsen bought two tickets from waitress Debbie Rozzell and promised to share the money, if he got any.
He won $28,000 on one of the tickets and he kept his word. Larsen and Rozzell went together to claim the prize from the lottery office in Salem Monday.
Rozzell was excited to start spending her check.
"I bought myself a laptop already, and was thinking about taking my fiance and daughter on a trip to Lake Shasta maybe later this summer," she said. "We're gonna do some vacation somewhere."
