BEND, Ore. (AP) — Rain is expected in Central Oregon this weekend, likely putting an end to its fire season.
National Weather Service meteorologist Josh Smith says the cold front moving over Central Oregon is expected to bring rain through the weekend and into early next week.
He predicts about a half-inch to fall on Bend this weekend, and more in the high country west of the city.
High temperatures in Bend are expected to reach 65 degrees and lows are forecast to be in the 40s.
The Bulletin newspaper reports that firefighters are still working the Pole Creek fire, a 26,795-acre blaze that started Sept. 9.
