SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — Symantec is building a security operations center at its Springfield facility to serve the growing demand for storing sensitive data.
A spokesman for the computer software firm told The Register-Guard (http://is.gd/Yj3D8i ) that construction is expected to be finished by November.
The 3,364-square-foot windowless center will have about a dozen employees who will work in shifts around the clock, 365 days a year.
The center will handle highly sensitive customer information, so employees will have to pass through several security doors, including one with a fingerprint or hand geometry scan.
Symantec's 1,170-employee Springfield complex provides customer service support for large businesses, universities, government agencies and other organizations.
