THE DALLES, Ore. -- A 12-year-old girl's body was recovered Saturday from the Pine Hollow Reservoir after she drowned, deputies said.
Fanney Garcia of The Dalles, Oregon was seen playing with her 5-year-old sister Friday night in the reservoir. Witnesses said both girls seemed to be in distress while in the water.
According to the Wasco County Sheriff's Office some bystanders went to help the two, but were only able to bring the 5-year-old back to the shore.
Search and rescue crews worked into the night to find Garcia but could not. Saturday morning they recovered her body.
Witnesses reported that neither had a personal floatation device.
