PORTLAND – Crews are making emergency repairs to the Fremont Bridge and the right lane of I-5 southbound will remain closed until the project is finished.
A bridge joint somehow broke loose, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. Crews said they expect the repairs to take several hours, but they hope to have the lane re-opened by 8 p.m.
Drivers were warned to expect delays all day, especially during the evening commute across the top deck of the bridge.
Just last month, a joint broke loose from the concrete near the onramp from Highway 30 to Interstate 405 on the Fremont Bridge. Emergency repairs were also conducted to fix that joint.
