PORTLAND -- A woman shot and killed and in Southeast Portland Friday morning has been identified as 24-year-old Precious Antanaye Jackson, police said.
Police were searching Friday morning for an armed suspect, asking people to shelter in place between Southeast Powell Boulevard and Holgate Street from Southeast 122nd to 132nd avenues. The dragnet ended just before 7 a.m. with no suspect found, said Sgt. Pete Simpson.
The shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m., and Jackson was found dead outside the Laurel Place Apartments. Police chased a suspect vehicle for a short distance before it crashed near Gilbert Park and the four men inside it ran off.
Homicide detectives asked that any residents who find clothing at the park, or in the area around Southeast 127th Avenue and Southeast Boise Street, call police.
Friends and family of Jackson described her as outgoing and kind. Tia Queen, who didn't know Jackson, ran to help her after the shooting.
"I felt that however shallow it was, she was still alive and she died right there staring in my face. I don't know her and she didn't know me," she told KGW Friday. "I think that that really sad. That's really sad."
Two people brought themselves to two separate hospitals with gunshot wounds early Friday morning, but police did not say whether the three victims were shot in related incidents.
One victim went to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center just before 3 a.m. Police said that victim had a self-inflicted wound not related to Jackson's death.
Then about 3:30 a.m., 23-year-old Jeray Lashawn Jessie, showed up at Portland Adventist Medical Center. He was connected to reports of shots fired around Southeast Division Street and Interstate 205 near the same time as Jackson was found. This shooting was also not related to Jackson's death, police said.
KGW reporters Ashley Korslien and Mark Hanrahan contributed to this report.
