HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. -- A man died after he was stabbed at a Happy Valley party Sunday night and police have identified the murder suspect.
Police believe George Gardea, 24, of Portland, stabbed Marco Fielder, 21, of Portland, several times. The Clackamas County Medical Examiner on Monday ruled the cause of death as homicide from multiple sharp force injuries.
Gardea was arrested and booked into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of murder, assault and unlawful use of a weapon. No bail was set.
The stabbing occurred just before midnight during what witnesses described as a fight during a party in the 9000 block of Southeast Causey Avenue.
Arriving deputies found a man who had been stabbed. He was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead around 6 a.m.
Witnesses told police a suspect ran to a nearby apartment and refused to come out. He was taken into custody several hours later and identified as Gardea.
