Police responded to the motel at NE 112th and Sandy just after 8 a.m. Saturday.

Sergeant Brian Schmautz with the Portland Police Bureau said that officers on routine patrol were checking license plates in the area when they hit on a suspect vehicle wanted for a crime in Kelso Washington.

Due to the violent nature of the crime, the SERT team was called in.

51-year-old William Vance "Van" Reagan and his 47-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Louise Gatti were taken into custody at the motel on Saturday. Both are from Longview Washington.

Cowlitz County Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig said that Reagan was wanted in connection with the murder of 26-year-old Jeremy M. McLean of Longview. No official charges had been filed and both Reagan and Gatti were being questioned by police.

McLean's body was found along the shore of the Columbia River, four miles west of Longview on Wednesday. He had been reported missing on Monday night.

Rosenzweig said that Reagan and the victim knew each other but did not elaborate on their relationship. Rosenzweig also said that Gatti would likely not be charged.
