New Year's Eve events around Portland and beyond

Whether you crave all-night dancing, snow, or just champagne, those looking to ring in 2008 in a special way have a lot of options to choose from this New Year’s Eve.
Below are some of the major events being held in the Portland area and beyond:
Crystal Ballroom Concert

Celebrate the arrival of the new year with a pair of R&B legends: El Debarge, the sweet, soft and soulful voice behind massive 80's hits like "Rhythm of the Night" and "Who's Johhny?" and Lakeside, the veteran funk ensemble behind the groove juggernaut "Fantastic Voyage."
Tickets cost $45.
17th Annual Champagne Ball
Portland Hilton Hotel

Portland, OR
You gotta dress up for this one. The largest New Year’s Eve event in Portland features 5 Guys Named Moe, 80s Invasion, two DJs, karaoke, four dance floors, a massive champagne ball countdown with huge balloon drops, an appetizer buffet and about 1,800 other revelers.
General Admission tickets are $75 and reserved seating tickets cost $95 per person.
Mount Hood Meadows Party

The lifts run until after midnight, there's a fireworks display at 10 p.m., a dinner buffet and a party with live music by "Design" (party for ages 21 and older). Revelers can ride special New Year's Eve buses to the mountain, picking up at the Tualatin TRIMET Park & Ride at 3 p.m., at the Sunset TRIMET Transit Center at 3:20 p.m. and at the Gateway TRIMET Transit Center at 3:45 p.m.
Tickets cost $55 for the dinner, party and lift ticket.
Fir Ball 2008
Featuring an epic New Years Eve duel between brilliant folk rock stalwarts Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven. Countdown til NY's just before Midnight!
Limited tickets available at the door.
Big Band New Year's Eve Dance Party

Love to swing dance? The annual dance party at Norse Hall features live music by Blue Skies Big Band and Barbara Lusch and band, two rooms of dancing and a light buffet.
Tickets cost $35 and are only sold in advance.
Jimmy Mak's New Year's Show
221 NW 10th Avenue
Portland, OR
New Year’s Eve with International Male and The Excellent Gentlemen. Say goodbye to 2007 with a visit from International Male. Their blend of 70’s pop, funk and disco will get your booty shakin’ and heart pumping. As a bonus, funk masters The Excellent Gentlemen will come along to spice up the evening. Word is that they’ll join forces for a super jam to ring in the New Year.
Tickets are $15 at the door, based on capacity.
