PORTLAND, Ore. -- Investigators were on the scene of two separate homicides on Portland's east side Monday.
Police were called around 9:15 a.m. Monday to perform a welfare check at a trailer near SE 167th Avenue and Division.
When police arrived they found a dead man in his mid to late 40s inside.
The person who called in the welfare check gave specific suspect information to police, and while neighbors were being interviewed, three people walked by, matching descriptions given to officers.
Police detained three suspects for questioning but no arrests have been made.
Detectives were unable to immediately process the crime scene due to legal issues, according to Portland Police Bureau spokesperson Brian Schmautz.
Meanwhile, in Northeast Portland, police reported another person was found dead at a residence in the 100 block of NE 143rd Street.
Officers were called to perform a welfare check for a man who told them he had not seen an elderly neighbor come out in some time.
Police arrived and found the 67-year-old man dead inside the residence.
The district attorney requested a search warrant prior to detectives entering the home to process the scene, according to Schmautz.
No arrests had been made in the man's death.
Schmautz said neither victim had been positively identified.
Cause of death in both homicides would not be confirmed until autopsies were completed Tuesday, according to police.
