It's still unclear whether prosecutors have decided to drop the case against Jan Elizabeth Gleaves altogether or file charges at a later date.

Gleaves, 39, was arrested last week.

According to jail documents obtained by NewsChannel 8, Gleaves was booked on four charges: giving liquor to a minor, sexual abuse in the third-degree, contributing to sexual delinquency and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Gleaves was arrested and bond was set at $3,625.

St. Helens police said it was a parent who noticed an inappropriate posting on the social-networking Web site MySpace and alerted authorities about the alleged sex abuse.

Gleaves, an special education instructional aide for two years, was put on administrative leave, according to Patricia Adams, St. Helens School District superintendent.

Adams said, to the best of her knowledge, no students at St. Helens High School were involved in this incident.

The district superintendent also said there were no ‘red flags’ about Gleaves in background checks.

NewsChannel 8 looked into previous court records and found Gleaves had a divorce in 2005 had a traffic violation that was dismissed in 2006.
