VERNONIA, Ore. -- Many Vernonia-area residents who lost electricity or natural gas heat in last week's storm have literally been left in the cold.
Oregon State Fire Marshal Incident Commander Taylor Robertson says many such residents have endured recent subfreezing temperatures.
Volunteers for Victims' Assistance is looking for safe space heaters and dry firewood that can be donated to the Vernonia flood victims.
Space heaters can be dropped off at the Vernonia Distribution Center across from City Hall. Firewood should be delivered to the west side of Weed Avenue, also across from City Hall.
